While in Southern California I visited a few talented folks that share their unique art and craftsmanship to make surf culture personal. Shane Jones is a one man (and dog) operation designing and making custom wetsuits in his Costa Mesa warehouse. You may have seen his work on the Paris runways in collaboration with Thom Browne. Next up is Michael Takayama the shaper for many of the top pro longboarders winning competitions worldwide. Here he is pictured with a happy customer. Chris Coates a UK surfer visiting from Cornwall rests on an old Takayama board in the new showroom/workshop.

On a visit to the beautiful town of York, about a two-hour train ride north of London, I was treated to some of the best new music coming out of the UK. Four music projects shared amongst three talented brothers. If you're curious, and you should be, go have a listen here.

Pacific Northwest mushroom foraging is a treasure trove for any mycology mystic. My dear friend Lisa and I are Puget Sound Mycology Society Initiates and we love a good adventure in the woods. In this photo series I particularly appreciate the heart-shaped sunburst through the forest canopy, the fern arrangement as nature made it, and the colorful pine needle sprinkles on the pink russula emitica looking cap.
]]>It's amazing what can be accomplished in 24 hours in Iceland. I met a local host that was willing to brave the icy roads of the golden circle to see frozen waterfalls, walk between the North American and European tectonic plates, visit a hot spring, see impressive multi-tiered waterfalls, watch geysers in -18 degrees F, pass through countrysides full of Icelandic horses (yes, they have their own breed!), and drive through Reykjavik city points of interest. What an intensely beautiful country! Did you know the population of Iceland is around 400,000. One third of which live in the capital city Reykjavik.
]]>I'm featuring a few artists that inspired me at the Seattle Urban Craft Uprising event because I admire people who devote time to their art, vision, and making the world an even more beautiful, visually appealing, and interesting place to live in.
